Corwin Pharmacy in the Lockport Plaza shopping center has closed and its owner has filed for bankruptcy.

According to court documents filed with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Lockport Pharmacy, Inc., doing business as Corwin Pharmacy, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection Thursday, Oct. 30. Walter Beich, 61, of Homer Glen, is listed on the documents as the president of the company with 100 percent ownership interest.

Aidan, whose father is a Cook County sheriff deputy, decided to organize the Sept. 17 Blue Lives Matter march through Lockport after seeing people rally against the police on the news.

The Lockport Police Department is working a variety of angles in an attempt to find the person responsible for the November murder of two brothers at a construction site in Lockport. Marco Antonio Ceja-Sanchez, 37, and David Ceja-Sanchez, 36, both of Aurora, were found shot dead inside a townhome in Lockport’s Sagebrook subdivision early in the morning on Nov. 29. There are currently no suspects and “no clear motive” for the murder, according to Lockport Police Department Detective Sergeant John Arizzi.

An Indiana man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Sept. 6 on westbound Interstate 80 just east of Interstate 355, near Homer Glen, according to a press release issued the same day by Illinois State Police.

The Lockport Committee of the Whole announced the next step the City will be taking in its years-long effort to challenge the alignment of the Caton Farm-Bruce Road project at its Feb. 20 meeting. After joining with Homer Township and the Village of Homer Glen to conduct a feasibility study for two alternative routes to Will County’s proposed “middle alignment,” the City has received the results of the 18-month-long study and sees either route as a viable alternative.

A Romeoville man was shot and later died after a drug deal gone wrong Jan. 13 in Lockport Township, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

Dylan J. Somma, 22, was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m. Jan. 13 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.

Brooke Vrba, 22, of the 1000 block of Washington Street in Lockport, was charged May 26 with driving under the influence and speeding after being stopped at approximately 3 a.m. on E. 9th Street for allegedly speeding.

Incumbent Lockport mayor Steve Streit earned a decisive victory over challenger Joey Jeraminas, according to unofficial results from the Will County Clerk’s website.

“We’re excited about having another opportunity to continue to work for the city of Lockport,” Streit said.

Streit, who will be entering his second term as mayor, received 2,369 votes (73.75 percent), while Jeraminas totaled 843 votes (26.25 percent). Streit held a lead in early voting, voting by mail and election day voting.
