A Lockport man was arrested in Riverside Oct. 4 in connection with an alleged dispute involving two other men and a handgun. Alijandro Mosies Mosquenda, 21, of the 1300 block of McCameron Avenue in Lockport was charged with mob action and reckless conduct following a drug-related dispute on a bridge in Riverside, according to a press release issued Thursday, Oct. 5, by the Riverside Police Department.

The Tinley Park Police Department on Saturday arrested a Lockport man in conjunction with a child-luring attempt on Wednesday, May 8, village officials announced via social media.

According to the post, Guillermo Alva, 62, of Lockport, was arrested and charged with child abduction after allegedly trying to lure a female juvenile into his vehicle using cash.

There is no shortage of Halloween spirit in Lockport this year, but there are a few eerily decorated residences that stand out from the rest.

The Cipolla family, Levato family and Rager family all go above and beyond when it comes to turning their houses into haunted Halloween attractions that boast an impressive array of spooky decorations.

“I’d love for everybody to come see it,” Lockport resident Tony Levato said of his Halloween decor.

A Joliet woman was charged with aggravated DUI after a rollover crash Saturday, Dec. 26 that led to one fatality, according to Illinois State Police.

Jamie Walsh, 30, of Joliet, was driving a vehicle near Route 171 and Nobes Avenue in Lockport Township when the rollover crash occurred causing the vehicle’s passenger, Joseph O. Essary, 33, to be ejected from the vehicle during the crash, according to Illinois State Police District 5.

Former Lockport Township High School student Jay Vana’s family and friends wanted a way to honor him on the third anniversary of his death, so they came together for an orchestrated act of good will toward the community.

They planned “Jay It Forward,” a pay-it-forward campaign around the Lockport and Homer Glen communities Friday, Sept. 25, exactly three years after his death. Vana died Sept. 25, 2012, following a car accident, at just 16 years old.

The Lockport Police Department has a juvenile in custody in connection with the alleged destruction of a wall art project at the I&M Canal.

The department posted several photos to its Facebook page on Monday, showing four subjects who the Lockport investigations unit were attempting to identify. The art was damaged early in the morning on Sept. 2, according to the time stamp on the security photos. The art project is located along the canal walking path just north of Division Street.
