Corwin Pharmacy in the Lockport Plaza shopping center has closed and its owner has filed for bankruptcy.

According to court documents filed with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Lockport Pharmacy, Inc., doing business as Corwin Pharmacy, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection Thursday, Oct. 30. Walter Beich, 61, of Homer Glen, is listed on the documents as the president of the company with 100 percent ownership interest.

The Lockport Police Department is working a variety of angles in an attempt to find the person responsible for the November murder of two brothers at a construction site in Lockport. Marco Antonio Ceja-Sanchez, 37, and David Ceja-Sanchez, 36, both of Aurora, were found shot dead inside a townhome in Lockport’s Sagebrook subdivision early in the morning on Nov. 29. There are currently no suspects and “no clear motive” for the murder, according to Lockport Police Department Detective Sergeant John Arizzi.

The Lockport Committee of the Whole announced the next step the City will be taking in its years-long effort to challenge the alignment of the Caton Farm-Bruce Road project at its Feb. 20 meeting. After joining with Homer Township and the Village of Homer Glen to conduct a feasibility study for two alternative routes to Will County’s proposed “middle alignment,” the City has received the results of the 18-month-long study and sees either route as a viable alternative.

An Indiana man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Sept. 6 on westbound Interstate 80 just east of Interstate 355, near Homer Glen, according to a press release issued the same day by Illinois State Police.

A motorist traveling in the wrong direction was killed and another was hospitalized during a Thanksgiving night crash in Lockport Township.

Michael Mannino, 36, of Joliet, reportedly died at the scene at around 7:25 p.m. after the Mitsubishi Eclipse he was driving in oncoming traffic hit a Ford truck head on in the southbound lanes of Route 53, just south of Renwick Road, according to a release from the Illinois State Police.

The driver of the truck reportedly was transported to a local hospital with "nonlife threatening injuries."
