The Tinley Park Police Department on Saturday arrested a Lockport man in conjunction with a child-luring attempt on Wednesday, May 8, village officials announced via social media.

According to the post, Guillermo Alva, 62, of Lockport, was arrested and charged with child abduction after allegedly trying to lure a female juvenile into his vehicle using cash. 

After Alva first asked for directions, the victim moved into a business parking lot where Alva reportedly offered her cash. The female told authorities she was able to enter a nearby business around 167th Street and Harlem Avenue and alert its employees, who then reportedly called police as Alva fled in a red van. 

Alva is in the custody of the Tinley Park Police Department and will soon be transported to the  Leighton Criminal Court Building for a bond hearing, the post says.
