Award-winning Lockport Legend moving to subscription model

We hope you have enjoyed receiving your award-winning community newspaper free of charge every week for the past eight-plus years.

In fact, we know you have, as thousands of you have asked us again and again to keep sending you The Lockport Legend.

And we’ve been proud to do so.

We are now counting on your continued loyalty and support as after eight years of free delivery The Legend takes a step forward to become a subscription newspaper.

Starting Thursday, Oct. 3, subscriptions to The Legend, your No. 1 source for local news and information, can be secured in several ways: via mail, fax, phone and the web.

To see details, please see the form on Page 19, visit, or call The Legend at (708) 326-9170 and ask to continue receiving The Legend for less than a dollar an issue (just $39 a year).

Over the coming months, anyone who has not subscribed to The Legend will be removed from the mailing list.

Through the last eight years, The Legend has been the hometown newspaper for Lockport residents. The newspaper has won the hearts of residents and critics, who have lauded The Legend’s coverage numerous times on the national stage.

To continue to provide unmatched coverage of your hometown — from City Council reports and State Street construction updates to Old Canal Days packages and Porters sports — we ask you not to wait and subscribe today.

The Legend is a locally owned community newspaper. Its parent company, 22nd Century Media, was founded in 2005 and expanded to the northern suburbs in 2010. Since its founding, the company has added 14 newspapers and websites and has become the largest newspaper group in the southwest suburbs.
