Dozens of senior citizens from Will County crowded into the Lockport Police Department’s community room on June 19 to learn about how to protect themselves against fraud and con artists.

“Silver Beat,” the June TRIAD meeting, was operated through the Attorney General’s Office, and Officer Jeren Szmergalski with the LPD began by introducing two correspondents from the office. The correspondents presented on numerous topics, including different types of fraudulent phone calls, scams and how to protect themselves from identity theft.
