Popular culture makes being different look appealing, but in reality, being weird and quirky is not conducive to a healthy social life. Which is why growing up I spent most of my days nose-dipped in a book or glued to the television screen. You can point out the flaws in this but I did learn to appreciate the cultural sphere a lot more. I binged on Godard and Kurosawa films while also finding solace in the latest adventures of my favorite superheroes.
