The Porters and Celtics faced off Saturday, Aug. 25, in the Kickoff Classic at Northern Illinois University’s Huskie Stadium in DeKalb. Providence took home a 38-7 win in the first game the two programs ever played against each other.

Providence watched captain Max Pignotti get rolled off the field on a stretcher, committed a foolish unsportsmanlike penalty that helped Lockport continue a drive that resulted in a touchdown and then got stood up at the goal line in the final seconds of the opening half, opting to go for a short field goal and missing it as time expired.
